The White City, and what's beyond the famous view
Ostuni's whitewashed centro storico has made it the most recognisable image of Puglia. But those who live here will tell you the view from inside is better than the view from outside. The old town is a labyrinth of lanes, arched passages and small piazzas that is genuinely beautiful to navigate daily. Below, the Adriatic coast — the marinas, the beaches running south toward Fasano — is fifteen minutes away.
Puglia's most established market for international buyers
Ostuni has been drawing international buyers for more than twenty years — British, Dutch, American, Scandinavian — and the infrastructure that comes with an established community is evident: English-speaking services, a rental market that functions, and the kind of local knowledge network that makes settling in considerably less difficult than in newer destinations. Property in town averages around €2,600/m²; countryside renovation projects from €50k.
A quality of life that is genuinely affordable
Dinner for two with wine at a braceria — the Puglian butcher-grill — costs very little by any European standard. A glass of local Primitivo at a terrace café is €4. The sun is here more than 320 days a year. Brindisi Airport is 37 minutes away, Bari under an hour. Puglia is still one of the best-value places in Italy to live well, and Ostuni is where most people who move here eventually end up.
