Toscana

THE GOOD PLACE TO LIVE

good places — Toscana

Montalcino is a medieval hilltop village in southern Tuscany that produces Brunello di Montalcino — consistently one of the finest red wines in the world. But wine is just the most obvious reason to be here. The Val d'Orcia below is a UNESCO World Heritage landscape, the pace of life is genuinely slow, and the community of people who have chosen to live here — Italian and international alike — tend to stay for good.

Montepulciano is a hilltop town at 605 metres in the Siena province, surrounded by vineyards producing Vino Nobile — one of Tuscany's great wines. It has a proper piazza, a curving corso lined with Renaissance palaces, and a community of residents that includes a growing number of remote workers and retirees who came for the beauty and stayed for the life. Four seasons, manageable scale, and a cost of living that still makes sense.
